Midway tangles with No. 10 Cedar Hill in the bi-district round of the Class 6A Division II playoffs. Both teams advance into the postseason on a roll.

After dropping its first two contests, the Panthers have won eight straight games and went undefeated in District 8-6A. The Longhorns fell in their season opener to Las Vegas Bishop Gorman and lost to No. 2 DeSoto in District 7-6A.

Midway keys its offense around quarterback Tanner Mordecai. The Panthers haven’t lost since the junior signal caller returned to the lineup after missing the first three games this season due to a shoulder injury.

Last week, the Panthers downed Killeen Ellison 55-42 with Mordecai rushing for 224 yards on 18 carries and scoring five touchdowns. Mordecai also threw for 138 yards with 16 completions in 26 attempts but tossed three interceptions which all led to Ellison touchdowns. James Fullbright contributed 116 yards on 18 carries and scored twice.

For the year, Mordecai has passed for 1,480 yards and 12 touchdowns, completing 98-of-166 attempts. The quarterback has also gained 506 rushing yards on 77 carries with eight touchdowns.

Quarterback Avery Davis, a Notre Dame commit, leads the Longhorns. Davis sat out Cedar Hill’s final regular season contest, a 45-7 defeat of Irving. In 2016, he has passed for 1,613 yards and 24 touchdowns with only three interceptions while completing 111-of-163 attempts.

Running back Marquise Forman paces the Longhorn ground attack. This season, Forman has rushed for 653 yards on 89 carries and scored 11 touchdowns. Kaegun Williams (333 yards, 59 carries) and Cameron Fleming (302 yards, 33 carries) provide ample backup.

Wide receiver Charleston Rambo, an Oklahoma commit, grabs most of the receptions. In 2016, Rambo has totaled 55 catches for 934 yards and 16 touchdowns.
