Home Recruiting Class of 2016 Allen CB Taylor another piece of Texas State recruiting puzzle

Allen CB Taylor another piece of Texas State recruiting puzzle

Anthony Taylor is a 5-8, 171-pound two-star cornerback from Allen. On June 16th, he committed to Texas State University, the first school to send him an offer to play football.

Taylor is one of five defensive players being recruited from the Allen team who has won three straight state championships from 2012-2014.

Although he lacks the ideal size of a cornerback, Taylor makes up for that with his speed and willingness to throw caution to the wind on every play. He has the ability to run stride for stride with his opponent and break up or intercept the pass or move past would be blockers and stop the run or screen pass play.

His skill set of quality tackling also eases the fact that he lacks the height, so I don’t see this as being an issue to him playing at the next level.

In 2014 he had eight pass break ups and two interceptions, including a very impressive one handed pick six in a 69-54 victory over Arlington Martin, in route to completing the three peat of state titles.

Along with Texas State, the only other school to give Taylor a look was Louisiana Monroe.

With another solid season, I could easily see other schools give him some interest, but I think it’s safe to say he will stay committed to the Bobcats.
