Early Tuesday morning, four-star Allen High School cornerback Jaylon Jones verbally committed to the University of Mississippi.
Jones is one of the 18 hard commits to Ole Miss for the 2016 season. It took until June for Jones to decide between 6 schools, including Ole Miss, Auburn, Ohio State, TCU, Texas A&M and USC.
Prior to making his final decision, he took visits to Austin, TX, and Oxford, MS. At 6:30 a.m. the morning of July 28, Jones officially confirmed his commitment to the University of Mississippi through Twitter.
Jones is ranked as the nation’s No. 18 cornerback and No. 30 overall prospect in Texas, and is also ranked number 200 on ESPN’s top 300 recruits for 2016. In his career at Allen, he recorded 219 total tackles, three tackles for loss, and one interception.
With Jones’ athletic capabilities, he has the potential to play either cornerback or safety at the collegiate level. At 5-11, 182 pounds, the defensive back hopes to add some depth the nation’s number one scoring defense in major college football.
