The Manvel Mavericks are headed to the area round of the UIL 5A Division I playoffs after beating the Houston Madison Marlins 49-6 on Thursday night.
The Mavericks got off to a blistering start, scoring 28 first-quarter points en route to their Bi-District win.
Quarterback Kason Martin finished with 183 yards on 13-of-20 passing for three touchdowns. Junior running back Garrison Johnson added 45 yards and two touchdowns on just six carries.
With the win, Manvel moves on to face Nederland (9-2) on Friday at NRG Stadium.
