18-Year Prison Sentence Handed Down to Philadelphia Resident Convicted of Drug Trafficking

Philly native Glenn Long, 29, was sentenced to 18 years in jail for selling methamphetamine and fentanyl. The DEA New Jersey Field Division Special Agent in Charge Cheryl Ortiz and U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced it.

Philadelphia Man Sentenced for Fentanyl and Meth Trafficking Operation

Long had pled guilty to conspiring to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine before Camden federal Judge Noel L. Hillman. His drug trafficking operation included “runners” and “couriers.” Long’s customers received methamphetamine and fentanyl from these runners.

Following search and arrest warrants, Long’s accomplices were found with almost 2,700 grams of methamphetamine and 400 grams of fentanyl. As a fugitive facing a federal narcotics trafficking indictment in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Long was actively involved in this illegal operation. He has subsequently pleaded guilty.

Judge Hillman further sentenced Long to five years of supervised release, emphasizing the seriousness of the accusations and the need for post-release supervision.

Collaborative Efforts Lead to Sentencing in Drug Trafficking Case

Newark Division DEA special agents under Special Agent in Charge Cheryl Ortiz led Long’s sentencing probe. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, DEA Philadelphia Division, DHS Homeland Security Investigations, US Marshals Service, FBI, and several local police departments and county prosecutor’s offices collaborated.

OCDETF investigated this case. With a multi-agency strategy led by prosecutors and intelligence-driven techniques, the OCDETF program identifies, disrupts, and dismantles high-level criminal organizations that threaten the US.

Overall, Glenn Long’s sentencing shows law enforcement’s dedication to fighting drug trafficking and organized crime. Various agencies’ collaboration and the OCDETF investigation helped bring Long to prison and dismantle his drug-trafficking network.
