For the last eight years, the Clark Cougars have been on the losing end of their Gucci Bowl rivalry game against the Churchill Chargers.
None of Clark’s current players know what it’s like to come up victorious against Churchill, but they are hoping to end the drought tonight as they do battle on TV to kick off CW35’s Thursday Night Lights series.
Clark is led by coach Steven McGhee along with offensive returners Kenneth Bivins Jr. and Bear Wendt.
Bivins is a dynamic player in the Cougars offense. He can play multiple positions on offense and can even line up at defensive back on defense.
Clark went 3-7 last season, but as they did last year, they are capable of putting up a ton of points.
The Ron Harris-led Chargers are looking to improve on a 5-5 season last year. They’re returning starting quarterback Derek Perez, but are making some changes on offense this year.
The game tips off at 7 p.m. at Comalander Stadium. You can also watch it on CW35 locally in San Antonio and online at cw35.com.
