There’s not a better prescription for getting over a tough down-to-the-wire loss than a big win the following week, and the Hoka Hey Nation got exactly that as Manvel found the end zone often in a 68-0 rout of Houston Sharpstown.

Normally you’d look at the Mavericks’ 217 yards of total offense and see it as a rough night, but Manvel owned the third area of the game, reigning on special teams.

It all started with a Kameryn Alexander 84-yard kickoff return on the first play of the game. Just minutes later, and with Manvel already up 14-0, it was Ladarius Owens who returned a Sharpstown punt and took it to the house.

Then Alexander got back in on the action again as he returned a punt 59 yards for another touchdown.

By the end of the first quarter, Sharpstown was looking at a 42-0 deficit, and it didn’t get any easier, as the Mavericks defense limited Sharpstown to just 142 yards of total offense while they scored an additional 26 points to close out the game.

After a 49-47 loss to Crosby last week, Manvel will likely be in better spirits heading into their matchup against the 3-0 Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos.
