Katy 59, Clear Springs 7


Katy scored three touchdowns on 9 plays to started the game and never looked back as they beat Clear Springs 59-7.

Katy opened the game with a 53-yard drive capped off by a Deondrick Glass 2-yard run. On the ensuing drive Katy blocked the Clear Springs punt and recovered the ball at Clear Springs 1-yard line. 2 plays later, Bronson McClelland dashed in from 1-yard out. After a Clear Springs punt, Katy had a 3-play 47-yard drive capped by a 1-yard Deondrick Glass 1-yard run.

Just 6:16 into the game, Katy lead 21-0.

In the second quarter, Deondrick Glass and Bronson McClelland added rushing touchdowns and McClelland would throw one a touchdown pass to Steven Stiles.

Clear Springs only score of the night would come on a 38-yard second quarter pass from Garrett Rooker to Terrance Woodson.

In the second half, Deondrick Glass and Sherman Smith (Glass’ backup) would add rushing touchdowns and Kaleb Cue would add a 44-yard flied goal to make the final 59-7.

Glass finished the night with 19 carries for 194 yards and 4 touchdowns.

McClelland was 8 of 9 passing for 174 yards and added 5 carries for 47 and 2 touchdowns rushing.

Katy (3-1) is off next week before starting 19-6A district play in Week 6 against Tompkins (4-0). Tompkins beat Clear Creek 38-7 in Week4 and plays Seven Lakes (3-1) in Week 5.

Clear Springs (1-3) opens 24-6A district play next week against Clear Falls (3-1). Clear Falls beat Bellaire 69-46 in Week 4.
