A look back at the 1AD2 Semifinals games and how Follett and Jayton made it to Wednesday’s championship game at AT&T.

 

Follett Panthers vs. Jayton Jaybirds

In a low scoring first half, the Follett Panthers jumped out to a 24-0 lead before Jayton scored just before halftime to cut the Panther lead to 24-8.

Early in the 3rd quarter, Jayton looked to be going in for a score that could cut the Panther lead to a single score.But, Follett’s Fernando Cruz returned an interception for a touchdown and instead of the score tighetening, the Panthers pushed their lead to 30-8.

The Panthers would push the lead to 36 to 8 before Jayton would score again with 1:18 remaining in the 3rd quarter to make the score 36 to 16.

Quicks scores by both teams early in the 4th quarter made the score 44 to 24 with 7:47 remaining in the game.

The teams exchanged scores again to make the final score Follett 52, Jayton 32.

 

Strawn Greyhounds vs. Oakwood Panthers

After a bit of a slow start, the Strawn Greyhounds stepped on the gas and pulled away from the Oakwood Panthers in the State semifinal game ending the game via 45-point mercy early in the fourth quarter.

Strawn recorded the only score of the first quarter and led 6-0 at the end of the quarter.

Strawn then recorded three touchdowns in the 2nd quarter and lead 27-0 at the half.

Strawn pushed the score to 35-0 before Oakwood got on the scoreboard at the 4:59 mark of the 3rd quarter making the score 35-6.

Strawn would score one more time before the 3rd quarter ended to push the score to 43-6 at the end of the quarter.

Strawn scored with 8:37 remaining in the game to push the score to 49-6 (a 43-point differential). The Greyhounds were able to record the two-point conversion and end the game via the mercy rule.
