Brownsville Hanna Tops Amarilla Tascosa in 2-6A vs. 32-6A Non-District Series

With 6:22 remaining in the 2nd quarter Hanna led by 1 point. Less than 4 minutes later Hanna had stretched the lead to 15 and went on to snagged the only victory for 32-6A in the five games against 2-6A this week.

With 2-6A and 32-6A being the only two 6-team 6A districts and Week 5 games difficult to find, five 2-6A teams played five 32-6A teams this week.

Brownsville Hanna and Amarillo Tascosa agreed to play at the neutral sire of Northside ISD’s Dub Farris Athletic Complex in San Antonio.


Tascosa opened the scoring with a 37-yard run from King Doerue. Brownsville’s Damian Martinez returned the ensuing kickoff to the Tascosa 29. It took Hanna 8-plays to reach the end zone on a 7-yard Aaron Frausto run to give Hanna a 7-6 lead.

Following a Tascosa punt, Hanna scored again when Migule Payan snagged a tipped pass form Victor Campos, juggled the ball before controlling it, and speed into the end zone for 30-yard touchdown to give Hanna 1 14-6 lead.

Tascosa would cut into the lead midway through the second quarter on 24-yard D’Andre Campbell run. After the PAT Hanna led 14-13.

It was at the point that Hanna score two touchdowns in three minutes 51 seconds. The first game on 47-yard run from Victor Campos.

On the following drive, Armando Garcia would recover a stripped fumble 38-yards for a TD and Hanna led 28-13 heading into the half.

After a 20 minutes half time and a 36 minute delay due to lightning in the area, Brownsville would take the opening drive of the second half 91 yards in 7 plays capped by a 47-yard touchdown run from Cesaar Mancias.

Tascosa would add a 35-yard touchdown run from King Doerue to make the score 35-19. With 6:22 remaining in the 3rd quarter. The game would be scoreless from that point and Hanna left with the 35-19 win.

Hanna moves to 3-1 on the season. Hanna takes on Rivera (0-5) in two weeks to open 32-6A district play.

Tascosa moves to 3-2 on the season. Tascosa takes on Midland (2-3) in two weeks to open 2-6A district play.
