San Antonio Clark Rallies Late for Victory Over San Antonio Marshall

Micah Thomas carried the ball 16 times for 101 yards on the night, but none was bigger than his final carry of the night.

Marshall had a 15-3 lead after the first, second, and 3rd quarters. Then came the scoring frenzy.

Early in the 4th quarter Ben Hooper rushed in from 9-yards out to cut the Marshall lead to 15-10. Marshall would answer on the next drive on a Matt Lejarzar 2-yard run. This PAT was missed making the score Marshall 21-10 with 5:32 remaining in the game.


Clark would drive the ball 68 yards in 6 plays capped off by a 4-yard pass from Ben Hooper to Luke Gibson with 3:30 remaining in the game. Clark would convert a two-point conversion cutting Marshall’s lead to three (21-18) with 3:30 remaining.

Clark would then recover an outside kick at the Marshall 49-yard line. Clark would drive the 49 yards in 8 plays capped by Thomas’ 1 yard run with 32 seconds remaining to give Clark the lead for the first time on the night, 25-21 with 0:32 remaining in the game.

Marshall failed to moved the ball out of their own territory as time expired.

Clark (2-3, 2-2) will face Stevens (2-3,1-3) in two weeks as 28-6A takes an off week next week.

Marshall (2-3,1-3) will face Brennan (3-2, 3-1) in two weeks.
