Tony’s district-by-district look at the district containing at least one greater Houston area team going into week 7.

14-6A

Last Week I had this district as Cy Ranch and Tomball Memorial competing for 1st and 2nd with Cypress Woods, Langham Creek, and Cypress Lakes competing for 3rd and 4th.

I had the key games as Tomball Memorial/Langham Creek and Cy Woods/Cy Lakes.

Langham Creek beat Tomball Memorial 28-21 and Cy Woods beat Cy Lakes 63-55.

With those results I’ll adjust the order to 1-Cy Ranch, with Cy Woods, Tomball, and Langham Creek competing for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

I look for the district to go to chalk this week with Cy Ranch, Cy Woods, and Tomball Memorial all winning by sizeable margins.

The closest game shouldn’t have implications on the playoff spots with Bryan playing at Cypress Lakes in the game I’ll be attending on Thursday.

15-6A

Last Week I had this district as 1-Klein Collins, 2-The Woodlands, 3-Klein Oak, 4-Klein.

I had the key game as Klein Collins/ Klein Oak.

Klein Collins beat Klein Oak 14-0.

No reason to change my order: 1-Klein Collins, 2-The Woodlands, 3-Klein Oak, 4-Klein.

Looking for Klein Collins, The Woodlands, and Klein Oak to win by sizeable margins this week.

The closest game shouldn’t have any impact on the playoff spots with Conroe Oak Ridge being a small favorite over College Park.

16-6A

Last Week I had this district as 1-Westfield, 2-DeKaney, 3-Eisenhower, 4-Spring.

I had the key game as Westfield/ DeKaney.

Westfield beat DeKaney 30-0.

In an upset in a game I wasn’t seeing as a key game Nimitz beat Spring 45-42.

And that upset creates a mess at the bottom on the district.

I still see this as 1-Westfield, 2-DeKaney, and 3- Eisenhower. But now 4th is up for grabs between three teams: Nimitz, Spring, and Davis.

This week I look for Westfield, DeKaney, and MacArthur to win by sizeable margins. The closest game of the week should have implications for the 4th playoff spot.

My key game of the week is Spring at Aldine Davis. Calpreps favors Davis 31-28. MasseyRating favors Spring 28-25.

A loss by Spring would make their playoff chances very dim indeed, but I’m going to pick Davis to win this one by 3.

17-6A

Last Week I had this district as 1-Cy Fair, 2-Cy Falls, with Jersey Village and Cy Ridge competing for 3rd and 4th.

I had the key game as Cy Fair/ Cy Falls.

Cy Falls beat Cy Fair 14-7.

I’ll have to change by order at the top to 1-CyFalls, 2-Cy Fair, and I still see Jersey Village and Cy Ridge competing for 3rd and 4th.

Cy Fair should right the ship this week against Jersey Village.

The closest games this week should be Spring Woods and Northbrook in the battle for the bottom and key game in Cy Ridge vs. Cy Creek.

If Cy Ridge wins this game, it would give Cy Creek 3 losses on the year and all but end any playoff hopes. But if Cy Creek wins it would put playoff hopes for Cy Ridge in jeopardy.

Calpreps favors Cy Ridge 31-21. MasseyRatings favors Cy Ridge 33-27.

Give me Cy Ridge by 10 in this one.

18-6A

Last Week I had this district as 1-Houston Lamar, with Chavez and Heights competing for 2nd and 3rd, and Bellaire and Westside competing for 4th.

I had the key game as Chavez/ Heights.

Chavez beat Heights 33-31.

With that result, I’m making my order for now 1-Lamar, 2-Chavez, 3-Heights, and Bellaire and Westside competing for 4th.

This week look for Lamar to easily handle Heights and Westbury/ Sam Houston to be a close contest without playoff implications.

In the key game of the week Chavez takes on Bellaire.

Calpreps favors Bellaire 38-31. MasseyRatings favors Bellaire 38-34.

I haven’t been impressed with Bellaire this year and I have been impressed with Chavez, so, I’m going against the computers and picking Chavez by 3.

19-6A

Last Week I had this district as 1-Katy, Cinco Ranch and Taylor competing for 2nd and 3rd, and 4-Tompkins.

I had the key games as Taylor/ Seven Lakes and Cinco Ranch/Morton Ranch.

Seven Lakes beat Taylor 21-14. Cinco Ranch beat Morton Ranch 44-17.

The win by Seven Lakes really adds uncertainty to the ordering of the playoff teams behind Katy. I’ll obviously keep Katy at number 1, for now I’ll move Tompkins up to competing with Cinco Ranch for 2nd and 3rd, and I’ll Seven Lakes in to competing with Taylor for 4th (and they obviously hold the tiebreaker over Taylor at this point.)

Katy is obviously a prohibitive favorite over Morton Ranch. Tompkins is the favorite over Mayde Creek.

A key game this week that will either clarify the picture or muddy it significantly is Cinco Ranch/ Katy Taylor. A Cinco Ranch win probably pushes Taylor down to 5th. A Taylor win probably makes Tompkins the favorite for 2nd and leaves 3rd and 4th up for grabs between Cinco Ranch, Taylor, and Seven Lakes.

Calpreps has Cinco Ranch as a 20-17 favorite. MasseyRatings favors Cinco Ranch 21-14.

I’ll go with the computers and pick Cinco Ranch by 7.

20-6A

Last Week I had this district as 1-Ridge Point, 2-Bush, 3-Travis, 4-Dulles, 5-Elkins.

I had the key game as Travis/ Dulles.

Travis beat Dulles 54-51.

No changes for the predicted order of finish. Keep it 1-Ridge Point, 2-Bush, 3-Travis, 4-Dulles, 5-Elkins.

This week Travis will be a big favorite over Austin. Dulles will be a big favorite over Clements. Elkins will be favored to will over Kempner.

The key game will be the battle to be the favorite to win the district title – Ridge Point/ Bush.

Calpreps favors Ridge Point 24-21. MasseyRating favors Ridge Point 28-14.

I see this more in line with Calpreps and I’ll take Ridge Point by 3.

21-6A

Last Week I had this district as 1-North Shore, 2-West Brook, 3-CE King, 4-Deer Park, 5-Beaumont United.

No key games last week and the games went as expected so the order remains 1-North Shore, 2-West Brook, 3-CE King, 4-Deer Park, 5-Beaumont United.

This week North Shore and West Brook will be big favors. Baytown Sterling and La Porte play in a game that shouldn’t have implications for the top 4 teams.

The key game of the week is CE King/ Beaumont United.

Calpreps favors CE King 31-21. MasseyRatings doesn’t have a prediction for the game (most likely they don’t have Beaumont United in their database yet.)

I’ll go with Calpreps on this one. Give me CE King by 7.

22-6A

Last Week I had this district as 1-Atascocita, 2-Kingwood, 3-Summer Creek, 4-South Houston, 5-Humble.

No key games.

In a game I didn’t have as a key game Pasadena Dobie beat Humble 70-20.

With that I’ll drop Humble out of any shot at playoff contention. My order is now 1-Atascocita, 2-Kingwood, 3-Summer Creek, 4-South Houston.

I don’t see any games being all that close this week. Atascocita, South Houston, Summer Creek, and Kingwood should all win comfortably.

23-6A

Last Week I had this district as Strake Jesuit and Pearland competing for 1st and 2nd, and George Ranch and Alief Hastings competing for 3rd and 4th.

I had the key game as George Ranch/ Alief Hastings.

Alief Hastings beat George Ranch 35-20.

And with that I’ll make Hastings the clear favorite for 3rd. My new order is Strake Jesuit and Pearland competing for 1st and 2nd, 3-Hastings, 4-George Ranch.

This week Pearland, Dawson, and George Ranch should win by significant margins.

The key game is Strake Jesuit/ Hastings.

Calpreps favors Strake Jesuit 38-24. MasseyRatings favors Strake Jesuit 35-24.

I’ll stay in line with the computers. Give me Strake Jesuit by 7.

24-6A

Last Week I had this district as 1-Dickson, 2-Clear Springs, 3-Clear Lake, with Clear Falls, Clear Brook, and Clear Creek competing for 4th.

Last week Clear Brook beat Clear Falls 41-30. And that puts Clear Falls in serious jeopardy at 0-2 already and playing Dickinson this week. And I’ll drop Clear Falls out of contention for the 4th spot.

My new order is 1-Dickson, 2-Clear Springs, 3-Clear Lake, with Clear Brook and Clear Creek competing for 4th.

Nothing intriguing in 24-6A this week. Dickinson, Clear Springs, and Clear Creek should all win handily.

8-5AD1

Last Week I had this district as College Station and Lufkin competing for 1st and 2nd, 3-Magnolia West, and Magnolia and Tomball competing for 4th.

No changes based on the results last week, so keep it College Station and Lufkin competing for 1st and 2nd, 3-Magnolia West, and Magnolia and Tomball competing for 4th.

This Week Magnolia West, Magnolia, and Tomball should win by big margins.

The key game is one of the biggest games in the state this week and a matchup most have had circled since the alignment was announced – College Station/ Lufkin.

Calpreps favors College Station 27-26. MasseyRatings favors College Station 28-27.

Obviously, the computers expect this to be a very close game. I’ll go with the home field advantage here. Give me College Station by 3.

9-5AD1

Last Week I had this district as Port Arthur Memorial and New Caney competing for 1st and 2nd, and Kingwood Park, Houston Austin, and Porter competing for 3rd and 4th.

Last week Porter beat Houston Austin 58-21. I’m now ready to set the order on the lower half of the playoff spots. Make my order Port Arthur Memorial and New Caney competing for 1st and 2nd, 3-Porter, 4-Kingwood.

This week I expect Kingwood Park, Porter, and Austin to win by large margins.

The key game this week should decide the district title – New Caney/ Port Arthur Memorial.

Calpreps favors Port Arthur 28-27. MasseyRating favors Port Arthur Memorial 35-28.

I think will be a battle settled late in the game. I’ll also go with the Titans. Give me Port Arthur Memorial by 3.

10-5AD1

Last Week I had this district as Shadow Creek and Friendswood competing for 1st and 2nd, 3-Angleton, 4-Richmond Foster.

In a bit a surprise for the margin of victory last week, Angleton beat Hightower 14-13. But, that doesn’t change anything on the predicted order of finish: Shadow Creek and Friendswood competing for 1st and 2nd, 3-Angleton, 4-Richmond Foster.

This week Shadow Creek and Angleton should win by significant margins. Texas City and Hightower play in a game that shouldn’t have any impact on the playoff spots.

The key game this week is Friendswood/ Foster.

Calpreps favors Foster 27-21. MasseyRatings favors Foster 28-24.

I just don’t see why the computers are favoring Foster. I think a Foster win would be an upset. Give me Friendswood by 7 in this one.

10-5AD2

Last Week I had this district as 1-Huntsville, 2-A&M Consolidated, 3-Lamar Consolidated, 4-Montgomery, 5-Katy Paetow.

In a result I wasn’t expecting Montgomery Lake Creek beat Katy Paetow 25-7 so I think I can drop Paetow out of any consideration for the playoffs.

New order is 1-Huntsville, 2-A&M Consolidated, 3-Lamar Consolidated, 4-Montgomery.

This week I look for Huntsville and A&M Consolidated to win big. In games that I don’t expect to have any impact on playoffs spots, I expect Lake Creek and Rudder to win by more than a touchdown.

11-5AD2

Last Week I had this district as 1-Fort Bend Marshall, 2-Manvel, and Willowridge, Houston Madison, Houston Sterling competing for 3rd and 4th.

Last week, in a result I wasn’t expecting Houston Northside beat Houston Sterling 21-20 and that really clears up the picture for the final playoff spots. Adjust my order to 1-Fort Bend Marshall, 2-Manvel, and Willowridge, and Houston Madison competing for 3rd and 4th.

This week I look for Marshall and Manvel to once again win by large margins.

I also look for both Willowridge and Madison to win by 10+.

12-5AD2

Last Week I had this district as 1-Crosby, with Nederland, Barbers Hill, Port Neches-Groves, and Vidor competing for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

I had the key games as Nederland/ Barbers Hills and Port Neches-Groves/ Vidor.

Nederland beat Barbers Hill 21-27. Port Neches-Groves beat Vidor 38-32. With that I think I should change up the order a bit. For now I’ll go with 1-Crosby, Nederland and Port Neches-Groves competing for 2nd and 3rd, and Barbers Hill and Vidor competing for 4th.

This week I expect Vidor and Nederland to win by significant margins. I expect Barbers Hill to win a bit closer, but still by 10+.

The key game of the week is Crosby/ Port Neches-Groves.

Calpreps favors Crosby 40-31. MasseyRatings favors Crosby 48-41.

I also think Crosby wins this one. Give my Crosby but only by 7.

11-4AD1

This will be the first week of district play and also my first look at this district.

I see this district as Splendora and Lumberton competing for 1st and 2nd, Huffman Hargrave as 3rd, and Little Cypress- Mauriceville and Bridge City competing for 4th.

This week I look for Splendora to win big.

I have two key games this week Lumberton/ Huffman Hargrave and Bridge City/ Little Cypress-Mauriceville.

Calpreps favors Lumberton 31-17. MasseyRatings favors Lumberton 28-13.

Give me Lumberton by 14.

Calpreps favors Bridge City 28-27. MasseyRating favors Little Cypress-Mauriceville 27-21.

I like Bridge City in this one. Give me Bridge City by 3.

12-4AD1

Last Week I had this district as 1-Wheatley, 2-Stafford, and Navasota, North Forest, Worthing, and Yates competing for 3rd and 4th.

I had all the games as key games (Wheatley/ Worthing, Navasota/ North Forest, Stafford/ Yates).

Wheatley beat Worthing 52-12. Navasota beat North Forest 28-14. Stafford beat Yates 40-14.

With those results, I’m going to change up the order to 1-Wheatley, 2-Stafford, 3-Navasota, and North Forest, Worthing, and Yates competing for 4th.

I think Navasota handles Worthing easily. North Forest should be favored easily over Furr.

The key game of the week is Wheatley/ Stafford.

Calpreps favors Wheatley 22-19. MasseyRatings favors Stafford 30-13.

I really don’t see this as a significant victory by Stafford like MasseyRatings. Give me Wheatley by 7.

13-4AD1

Last Week I had this district as 1-Sealy, Needville and Brazosport competing for 2nd and 3rd, and Bay City and El Campo competing for 4th.

I had the key games as Sealy/ Brazosport and Needville/ Bay City.

Sealy beat Brazosport 40-14. Needville beat Bay City 62-42.

I’ll leave the order as 1-Sealy, Needville and Brazosport competing for 2nd and 3rd, and Bay City and El Campo competing for 4th.

Bay City should easily beat Fulshear this week.

The key games this week are Needville/ Columbia and El Campo/ Brazosport.

Calpreps favors Needville 35-26. MasseyRatig favors Needville 35-28.

I expect more of track meet than either of those predictions but I do expect Needville to win. Give me Needville by 14 in a high scoring game.

Calpreps favors El Campo 24-22. MasseyRatings favor El Campo 28-21.

I see this as a pick’em game. I’ll side with the computers and take El Campo by 3.

9-4AD2

This will be the first week of district play and also my first look at this district.

I see this district as 1-Jasper, 2-Center, 3-Shepherd, 4-Tarkington.

I see this district as West Orange-Stark and Silsbee competing for 1st and 2nd, and Liberty and Hamshire Fannett competing for 3rd and 4th.

Hamshire-Fannett should beat Hardin-Jefferson by 10+.

The key game of the week should also determine the district championship – Silsbee/ West Orange-Stark.

Calpreps favors WOS 22-14. MasseyRating favors WOS 28-20.

Give me WOS by 7.

11-4AD2

This will be the first week of district play and also my first look at this district.

I see this district as 1-Sweeny, Wharton and La Marque competing for 2nd and 3rd, 4- Kashmere.

12-4AD2

This will be the first week of district play and also my first look at this district.

This week I see Giddings, La Grange, and Bellville all winning by 14+.

11-3AD1

Last Week I had this district as 1-Franklin, 2-Diboll, 3-Crockett, 4-Coldpsring.

I had the key game as Crockett/ Diboll.

Diboll beat Crockett 39-28. Leave the order as 1-Franklin, 2-Diboll, 3-Crockett, 4-Coldpsring.

This week I see Franklin, Diboll, and Elkhart all winning by large margins.

12-3AD1

Last Week I had this district as 1-Woodville, 2-East Chambers, 3-Buna, 4-Orangefield.

Last Week all games went as expected. Keep the order as 1-Woodville, 2-East Chambers, 3-Buna, 4-Orangefield.

This week I expect Woodville, East Chambers, and Anahuac to win by 21+. The only close game shouldn’t have playoff implications. I expect Hardin to win a close game over Kirbyville.

13-3AD1

This will be the first week of district play and also my first look at this district.

I see this district as Hitchcock and Rice competing for 1st and 2nd, and Columbus and Boling as competing for 3rd and 4th.

This week I expect Rice to win by a large margin, and Hitchcock and Boling to win by 14+.

12-3AD2

This will be the first week of district play and also my first look at this district.

I see this district as 1-Newton, 2-Corrigan-Camden, and Hemphill and Anderson-Shiro competing for 3rd and 4th.

This week Newton and Corrigan-Camden should win by 30+.

The key of the week should also settle the battle for 3rd and 4th – Hemphill/ Anderson-Shiro.

Calpreps sees this as Anderson Shiro 20, Hemphill 17. MasseyRating favors Anderson-Shiro by 17.

I’m going with Hemphill in a close game. Give me Hemphill by 3.

14-3AD2

Last Week I had this district as 1-East Bernard, 2-Van Vleck, and Schulenberg and Tidehaven competing for 3rd and 4th.

All the games went to form last week. No change in the order: 1-East Bernard, 2-Van Vleck, and Schulenberg and Tidehaven competing for 3rd and 4th.

This week East Bernard and Van Vleck should win handily. The only close game (Danbury/ Ganado) shouldn’t have playoff implications. Danbury should by 7 or less.

12-2AD1

This will be the first week of district play and also my first look at this district.

I see this district as 1-San Augustine, Shelbyville and Groveton competing for 2nd and 3rd, and Hull-Daisetta, West Sabine, and Kirbyville battling for 4th.

San Augustine and Shelbyville should win easily this week.

The key game this week should be Groveton/ West Sabine.

Calpreps favors Groveton 35-28. MasseyRatings favors Groveton 42-28.

I’ll take Groveton by 10.

12-2AD2

Last Week I had this district as 1-Lovelady, 2-Grapeland, 3-Evadale, and Colmesneil and West Hardin competing for 4th.

Last week in a bit of a surprise Evadale beat West Hardin by only 14-8.

This doesn’t change the order but it does confirm West Hardin may well compete for 4th.

This week Grapeland, Evadale, and West Hardin should all win by large margins.

14-2AD2

This will be the first week of district play and also my first look at this district.

I see this district as 1-Burton, 2-Snook, 3-Flatonia, 4-Louise.

This week Snook and Burton should win by large margins.

Simply put I am a fan of Texas high school football. I attend as many high school football games as I can - 82 games in 2017, 86 games in 2018, 76 games in 2019. I also have some limited computer skills and I use those to provide information to the #txhsfb community. I am always looking for new ways to provide information to the #txhsfb community. If you have ideas and suggestions, tag or DM me on Twitter.
