This week I’ll try to take advantage on Katy ISD’s unique stadium setup to catch the first 3 quarter on the Katy/ Seven Lakes game in Rhodes Stadium before moving next door to Legacy Stadium and trying to catch at least three quarters of the A&M Consolidated/ Paetow game. I’ll then race to Delmar and try to make it before kickoff of the Heights/ Westside game which may in essence be an elimination game with loser having a difficult tiem making the playoffs.

All rankings are THSCA regional rankings.

Game 1: Huntsville (5-1, 3-0) 5AD2 Region 3 #2 at Lamar Consolidated (5-1, 2-1) 5AD2 Region 3 #7

Thursday, 10/18, 7:00pm, Traylor Stadium, Rosenberg

This will be the first meeting between Huntsville and Lamar Consolidated.

Huntsville’s Rodney Southern achieved his 100th career head coaching win in last week’s 42-0 win over Montgomery. At 3-0 in district play, the Hornets are the only undefeated team in 10-5AD2 and are the clear favorite to win the district title.

Lamar Consolidated suffered their first district loss in district play last week against A&M Consolidated. Even with a loss to Huntsville, the Mustangs would be in contention for a playoff spot. A Mustang win would likely create a three-way tie for first place.

Game 2: El Campo (3-4, 1-2) at Sealy (6-0, 2-0) 4AD1 Region 3 #2

Friday, 11/19, 7:30pm, TJ Mills Stadium, Sealy

This will be the 10th meeting between the two schools. El Campo leads the all-time series 7-2. El Campo has won the last 5 consecutive meetings including winning 49-46 last year.

After suffering three consecutive losses for the first time in years, El Campo bounced back with a narrow win over Fulshear before losing a close game to Brazosport. A Ricebord loss in this game would all but end any hopes on making the playoffs this year.

Under second year head coach Shane Mobley, the Sealy Tigers have piled up wins and sit alone atop district 13-4AD1, are ranked second in the region in the last Texas High School Coaches Association poll, and are ranked #7 in the state by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.

This will be the first meeting between the A&M Consolidated and Katy Paetow.

The A&M Consolidated Tigers only loss on the season was to Huntsville in the first week of district play. Since then they have won two consecutive district games are well positioned for a playoff spot.

Simply put I am a fan of Texas high school football. I attend as many high school football games as I can - 82 games in 2017, 86 games in 2018, 76 games in 2019. I also have some limited computer skills and I use those to provide information to the #txhsfb community. I am always looking for new ways to provide information to the #txhsfb community. If you have ideas and suggestions, tag or DM me on Twitter.
