John Cooper improves to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in SPC 3A play after a 44-10 win over Oklahoma City Casady.

The Dragons were led in passing by Evan Minarovic, who was 20-34 for 310 yards, five touchdown passes, and one interception.

Other stats leaders were Thomas Elkhoury, who carried 2 times for 86 yards and 1 TD, Ben Deloit carried 9 times for 54 yards and Evan Minarovic carried 11 times for 54 yards.

Thomas Elkhoury had 7 receptions for 128 yards and 4 touchdowns, Rob DeLoit had 3 catches for 71 yards and Ben DeLoit had 3 catches for 40 yards.

Elkhoury had 214 total yards and he scored 5 touchdowns.

Defensively, Matt Krehbiel had 13 tackles and 3 of those tackles were tackles for a loss, Cameron Reed had 11 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss, and Jake Peterson had 11 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss.

“This was our most complete team win. Defensively we held them to 10 points and under 300 yards of offense. We tackled well, we created turnovers, and we played with incredible effort on defense all night long,” Coach Brent Landrum said.

“Special teams had a great night. James Araya is kicking the ball well. He made a nice field goal last night. We recovered an onside kick. Ronnie Woodall made some great tackles on kickoffs. Offensively we had our best night running the ball. We gained over 200 yards rushing. The offensive line had their best game to date in the run game and they protected the passer well all night. Thomas Elkhoury had five touchdowns, that doesn’t happen often. Evan Minarovic threw five more touchdown passes, bringing his season total to 34 TD passes to only 5 interceptions. Rob DeLoit stepped in for an injured Logan Lex and had a great night receiving the football. I am extremely proud of the focus this team has shown.”

The next game for the Dragons is when John Cooper travels to Fort Worth Trinity Valley on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
