In a game where defenses dominated, it was appropriate that the difference maker in the game was a defensive touchdown. On the 2nd drive of the night, Sheadrick Green intercepted a BJ Harris and raced 53 yards for the touchdown to put the Huntsville Hornets an early 7-0 lead just over 2 minutes into the game.

Just over 4 minutes later, Matthew Southern hit Jayton Griffin for a 46-yard touchdown to give Huntsville a 14-0 lead. That would be all the points the Hornets would need as they beat Lamar Consolidated 14-7.

BJ Harris would score the Lamar Consolidated Mustangs only touchdown on the night on a 1-yard run in the second quarter.

But the story of the night was the defenses. Of the 24 drives on the night, 7 ended in turnovers, and 13 ended in punts. 8 of the 24 drives resulted in negative yardage of the offense. 23 plays on the night resulted in negative yardage.

Huntsville has now won 4 consecutive games (all in district play), outscoring their opponents 147-14 during that span. Huntsville is now 6-1 overall and 4-0 in district play. Huntsville hosts Paetow next Friday night for homecoming.

Lamar Consolidated falls to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in district play. The seven points the Mustangs scored were the fewest in a single game on the season with the previous low being 26 points. Lamar Consolidated travels to Montgomery next Friday night.

Lamar Consolidated is 5-1, 2-1 – first loss of season was last week to A&M Consol (28-34). Scored at least 26 points in every game.
