So how did the ten games in each classification I keeping an eye on in Week 8 turn out?

 

6A


  • El Paso Pebble Hills (4-2, 1-0) vs. El Paso Montwood (3-3, 1-0) – The winner of this games stays in the running for the 1-6A district title.

Pebble Hills 51, Montwood 35

Pebble Hills is now pointing to their Week 10 game versus Franklin that will likely decide the 1-6A district title.

 

  • Denton Guyer (3-3, 2-1) vs. Keller (5-1, 2-1) – The winner of this game takes a big step toward a playoff spot. The loser will drop into a multi-way tie for the final playoff spots.

Having already lost to Southlake Carroll, Guyer is out of running for the district title, but is now well positioned for making the playoffs.

 

  • Marcus (4-2, 2-1) vs. Coppell (4-2, 2-1) – The winner of this game takes a big step toward a playoff spot. The loser will drop into a multi-way tie for the final playoff spots.

Coppell 24, Marcus 23

With wins over the four wins currently tied for 4th, Coppell is in great shape for a playoff spot. Marcus is one of three teams tied for fourth place.

 

  • JJ Pearce (5-1, 3-0) vs. Duncanville (5-0, 3-0) – The winner of this game becomes the only remaining unbeaten in 8-6A and the favorite to win the district title.

Duncanville has now beaten the two teams with only one loss in district play all but clinching the district title.

 

  • Jersey Village (6-1, 5-0) vs. Cypress Falls (6-0, 4-0) – The winner of this game becomes the clear (and prohibitive) favorite for the 17-6A title.

Jersey Village 23, Cy Falls 15

Jersey Village all but clinches the district title with this win.

 

  • Houston Bellaire (4-2, 3-0) vs. Houston Lamar (3-3, 2-0) – The winner of the game becomes the last team unbeaten in district play and the favorite to win the 18-6A title.

Lamar 30, Bellaire 7

Provided Chavez beats Sam Houston this week, and Lamar beats Westbury and Sam Houston the next two weeks, all of which are likely, the Week 11 game between Lamar and Chavez will decide the district title.

 

  • Fort Bend Travis (5-1, 3-0) vs. Fort Bend Ridge Point (5-1, 3-0) – The winner of this game moves into a dominating position to win the 20-6A title.

Ridge Point plays two of the remaining one-loss teams in 20-6A over the next three weeks.

 

  • Pearland (6-0, 3-0) vs. Strake Jesuit (6-0, 3-0) – The winner of this game becomes the clear (and prohibitive) favorite for the 23-6A title.

Pearland 57, Strake Jesuit 42

Pearland would have to loose two of their three remaining games to have a positibily of not winning the 23-6A title.

 

  • San Antonio Reagan (4-2, 2-1) vs. San Antonio Roosevelt (3-3, 2-1) – The winner of this game positions themselves for a playoff spot. The loser will be in a scramble for the final spots.

Regan moves into a tie with Johnson for 2nd in the district behind Madison. Roosevelt falls into a tie with Churchill for fourth. Roosevelt and Churchill play in Week 11 to likely decide the 4th playoff spot.

 

  • San Benito (3-3, 1-0) vs. Harlingen South (3-3, 1-0) – The winner of this game remains unbeaten in district and sets up a showdown with Brownsville Hanna that would likely be for the 32-6A title.

San Benito and Brownsville Hanna play this week in what will likely be the district 32-6A title.

 

 

5A

  • El Paso Del Valle (4-1, 1-0) vs. El Paso Eastwood (3-3, 1-0) – The winner of this game takes the lead in the battle for the 1-5AD1 crown.

Eastwood is set to play Chapin this week with the district title likely on the line.

 

  • Frisco Lone Star (5-1, 3-0) vs. The Colony (5-1, 3-0) – The winner of this game will be the likely winner of 5-5AD1.

The Colony 21, Frisco Lone Star 14

The Colony now wins over the two teams with 1 loss in district play and would have to lose two of their last three games to not win the district title.

 

  • New Caney (5-1, 3-0) vs. Kingwood Park (4-2, 3-0) – The last two remaining unbeatens in district play square off with the 9-5AD1 title likely on the line.

New Caney 40, Kingwood Park 10

New Caney now wins over the two teams with 1 loss in district play and plays the other (Houston Austin) this week.

 

  • Richmond Foster (4-2, 3-0) vs. Angleton (5-1, 2-1) – Most games in 10-5AD1 are games to keep an eye on. Foster needs the win to keep their district title hopes alive.

With the Angleton win, Shadow Creek is the only team unbeaten in district play. Angleton is tied for second in district with Foster and owns the tie-breaker with this win.

 

  • Cedar Park (5-2, 3-0) vs. Hutto (5-0, 2-0) – The winner of this game will likely face Manor for the district 11-5AD1 title.

Hutto 65, Cedar Park 21

Hutto is now looking to a showdown with Manor in Week 11 that will likely be for the district title.

 

  • Flour Bluff (5-1, 3-1) vs. CC Miller (5-1, 3-1) – The winner of this game takes a big step toward a playoff spot. The loser will be competing for one of the final playoff spots.

Miller 28, Flour Bluff 21

Miller jumps into second place in 15-5AD1. Flour Bluff drops into a tie for 4th place.

 

  • Lubbock-Cooper (6-0, 1-0) vs. Wichita Falls Rider (2-4, 1-0) – The winner of this game will likely face off with Canyon Randall for the district 3-5AD2 crown.

Lubbock Cooper 27, Rider 7

Lubbock-Cooper faces Randall in Week 10 in the game that will likely decide the district crown.

 

  • Dallas Seagoville (4-2, 3-0) vs. Dallas Kimball (5-1, 2-1) – Seagoville needs the win to set up a showdown next week against South Oak Cliff that would likely determine the 6-5AD2 title. A Kimball victory would put them in strong position to clinch a playoff spot.

The Kimball win creates a three-way for second place in 6-5AD2 with those three teams two games ahead of 5th place.

 

  • Corsicana (6-1, 5-0) vs. Sulphur Springs (5-0, 4-0) – The winner of this game will likely win the 8-5AD2 title.

Corsicana moves into sole possession of first place in 8-5AD2 and with wins over both the one loss teams, they would have to lose both remaining games to not win the district title.

 

  • Sharyland (4-3, 3-0) vs. Pioneer (4-2, 2-0) – The winner of this game will be the only team unbeaten in district 16-5AD2 play and the likely district champ.

The Rattlers 1-point win moves them into sole possession of first place and a win next week over Mercedes would clinch the district title.

  • Stephenville (4-2, 1-0) vs. Waco La Vega (4-2, 0-0) – The winner of this game will likely win 5-4AD1.

La Vega 32, Stephenville 15

La Vega should be big favorites to win the remainder of their district games.

 

  • Paris (5-1, 3-0) vs. Argyle (6-0, 2-0) – The winner of this game is the odds-on favorite to win 7-4AD1.

Argyle 34, Paris 26

Argyle moves into sole possession of first place in 7-4AD1. A win the week against Melissa would all but clinch the district crown for the Eagles.

 

  • La Feria (6-1, 1-0) vs. Zapata (5-2, 1-0) – The winner of this game will likely win the 16-4AD1 title.

La Feria 33, Zapata 14

A La Feria win over La Grulla this week would all but clinch the district 16-4A title for the Lions.

 

  • Greenwood (5-2, 3-0) vs. Snyder (5-1, 2-0) – The winner of this game will likely win the 1-4AD2 crown.

Greenwood 49, Snyder 7

A Greenwood win over For Stockton this week would clinch the district title.

 

  • Lubbock Estacoda (5-2, 1-0) vs. Dlahart (5-2, 1-0) – The winner of this game will likely play Levelland for the district title.

Estacado 33, Dalhart 7

Estacado plays Perryton this week, before their Week 10 bye, and the likely district title game in Week 11 against Levelland.

 

  • Graham (3-3, 1-0) vs. Bridgeport (5-1, 1-0) – The winner of this game will likely win the 3-4AD2 title with a possible challenge from Vernon.

Graham moves into sole possession of first in 3-4AD2 with four teams tied at 1-1 for second. Those four teams play each other this week.

 

  • Glen Rose (5-1, 1-0) vs. Ferris (4-2, 1-0) – The winner of this game will likely win the 4-4AD2 title.

Glen Rose moves into sole possession of first in 4-4AD2.

 

  • Gilmer (4-3, 1-0) vs. Pleasant Grove (5-2, 1-0) – The winner of this game will likely play Liberty-Eylau for the 6-4AD1 title.

Pleasant Grove plays Liberty-Eylau this week. A win by the Hawks would likely clinch the district title.
