Katy wins 7th Consecutive Game; Clinches 28th Consecutive Playoff Berth

The Katy Tigers won their 7th consecutive game on the season and clinched a playoff berth for the 28th consecutive year.

Following a short Cinco Ranch punt, the Tigers scored on their opening drive (7 plays, 34 yards) on a 5-yard run from Deondrick Glass. Deondrick Glass would score two more times in the first half on runs of 3 yards and 5 yards. Bronson McClelland would throw 2 touchdown passes to Jordan Patrick (25 yards and 26 yards) and 1 touchdown pass to Dawson Gonzales (3 yards) before the 1st half ended and the Tigers lead 42-0 at the half.

Things didn’t get much better for Cinco Ranch in the second half, as two more touchdown (Sherman Smith 9-yard run and Grant Ripperger to Ja’Kboy Kennedy 17-yard pass) take a 56-0 lead before the Cougars recorded their score of the night on a 40-yard Cam Harper to Brannon King pass.


With Katy’s 2nd and 3rd string players in the game, the Tigers and Cougars traded scores the remainder of the game to produce the final score of 70-17.

Katy moves to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in district. The Tigers play Mayde Creek (3-5, 0-4) next Friday at Rhodes Stadium before wrapping up the season Thursday, 11/8 at Legacy Stadium against Katy Taylor (5-4, 3-2).

Cinco Ranch falls to 2-6 overall and 2-2 in district. The Cougars play Tompkins (8-1, 4-1) next Saturday before wrapping up the season on Friday, 11/9 against Seven Lakes (5-3, 2-2).
