27-6A: Madison, Reagan likely headed to Division I after wins


Reagan 44, L.E.E. 14

Reagan took care of its business on Friday night in District 27-6A action, all but securing a postseason bid with a comfortable 44-14 victory over L.E.E.

Austin Miller rushed for a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter as Reagan sprinted out to a 23-0 lead. Most of the backups were operating the controls for Reagan after halftime.

Logan Kimbrough and Jacob Cho rushed for touchdowns, while Rhett Buell hooked up with Carter Campbell on a 40-yard score for the Rattlers (6-2, 5-1).

L.E.E. (0-8, 0-6) got two touchdown passes from quarterback Stephen Canto. Canto has put together a solid senior season with 1,429 passing yards and 13 touchdowns.

Madison 50, MacArthur 6

Dante Heaggans, fresh off his commitment to Illinois State, put in another outstanding performance on Friday night as Madison routed MacArthur, 50-6.

Heaggans threw for three touchdowns and ran for 132 yards and a pair of long touchdown runs as Madison remained unbeaten in District 27-6A at 5-0. Madison has clinched a bid to the playoffs and is likely headed to Division I along with Reagan.

Aydin Hoffman snagged a pair of touchdown passes for the Mavericks. In the first quarter, Madison erased a 6-0 deficit when Heaggans and Hoffman hooked up from 23 yards out. A successful two-point try gave Madison an 8-6 lead before the floodgates opened for the Brahmas.

MacArthur (1-7, 1-4) got a rushing touchdown from Franceau Smith in a losing effort.
