The theme of the night was ball control. Both teams kept the ball of the ground and kept the clock running. The game was played in 2 hours and 9 minutes.

On the 4th drive of the night (which started in the 1st quarter and end in the 2nd quarter), wide receiver Le’Junne Patterson, in as the wildcat quarterback, scored from 17-yards out on 4th and 1 to give the Cy Ridge Rams the lead at 7-0 with 9:27 remaining in the 2nd quarter. Le’Junne had come into the game as the wildcat quarterback on the prior play but failed to convert on 3rd and 2.

The score remained 7-0 into the 3rd quarter. Morton had forced Cy Ridge to punt on the first drive of the 3rd quarter and had driven the ball out to their 45 when Cy Ridge’s Daniel Zarate picked up a loose ball and sprinted 30 yards into the end zone to extend the Rams lead to 14-0.

Morton Ranch’s best drive of the night was their final drive of the night. The Mavericks drove from their own 23 to the Cy Ridge 11 before Kade Barnes intercepted the ball in the end zone with 3:07 remaining in the game to seal the Rams’ victory.

Cy Ridge moves to 2-0 on the season. The Rams open district play next week against Jersey Village. Jersey Village is 0-1 and plays Cinco Ranch tomorrow night.

Morton Ranch falls to 1-1 on the season. The Mavericks play Houston Westside next week. Westside is 2-0 following their 30-14 win over Houston Austin tonight.

Simply put I am a fan of Texas high school football. I attend as many high school football games as I can - 82 games in 2017, 86 games in 2018, 76 games in 2019. I also have some limited computer skills and I use those to provide information to the #txhsfb community. I am always looking for new ways to provide information to the #txhsfb community.
