Brenham Wins Wild Shootout Against Houston Heights

Houston Heights recorded over 500 yards of offense but it wasn’t enough to defeat Brenham on Saturday night at Delmar Stadium.

The Heights Bulldogs totaled 518 yards of offense (153 rushing, 365 passing) and Jalen Morrison completed 25 of 40 passes for 365 yards and five touchdowns but the Brenham Cubs took advantage of short fields to outscore the Bulldogs 42-38.

The Cubs totaled 360 yards of offense (155 rushing, 205 passing).


The statistical leaders for the Cubs were Daylonn McGown rushing for 86 yards on 17 carries with four touchdowns, Garrison Weiss passing for 143 yards and two touchdowns completing 11 of 126 passes, and Jasckson Mueller who caught 2 passes for 41 yards.

The statistical leaders for the Bulldogs were Patrick McDowell rushing for 92 yards on 12 carries, Jalem Morrison passing for 265 yards and five touchdowns completing 25 of 40 passes, and Tycorrian Bostick who caught five passes for 137 yards.

Brenham is moves to 2-1 on the season. The Cubs host Cedar Creek next Friday night. Cedar Creek is 3-0 on the season following a 20-12 victory over Fredericksburg on Thursday.

Houston Heights falls to 0-3 on the season. The Bulldogs hosts Seven Lakes next Thursday night. Seven Lakes is 2-1 on the season following a 38-14 victory over Fort Bend Austin on Friday.
