Here’s a mock alignment for 5AD1 based on the latest information released by the UIL for the upcoming 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years.
A few quick thoughts on my mock alignments:
- This is not a prediction of how the UIL will align the districts. This is one way the districts could be aligned that meets all the rules for district alignments.
- It would appear the UIL may allow El Paso Chapin to opt up to 5AD1 alleviating the issue with having only three 5AD1 El Paso area schools.
- This creates the more traditional kind of issue: What to do with Abilene Cooper? Group them with western DFW or group them with Lubbock/ Amarillo?
- There are probably dozens of different ways to do any alignment and the one thing that is true about everyone of them – some will love the alignment and some will hate it.
I've all but confirmed this…multiple coaches in El Paso confirming Felix's report…Chapin will opt up, this likely means a 4 team 1-5A D1 in El Paso, a Lubbock/Amarillo pairing in 2-5A D1..the question now is does Abilene Cooper come into DFW? My guess is yes #txhsfb @dctf https://t.co/h5a5BGVE5b
