Last Meeting: 2014 State Quarterfinals Cedar Hill won 62-42

The playoffs are finally here and week one entails big-name-games such as Cedar Hill and Southlake Carroll.

The two-time defending state champion Cedar Hill Longhorns were thrown for a loop when Mansfield shocked the world and snatched the district title from them in week 10 with a 46-43 defeat, thus setting up a first round date against Southlake Carroll, who themselves are looking to win their first state championship since 2011.

A first-round loss by Cedar Hill would be the earliest exit for the Longhorns since 2005, while Southlake Carroll is facing a first-round defeat for the first time since 2000.

Players to watch: Cedar Hill will be led by junior QB Avery Davis who has passed for 1966 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions while rushing for 12 more touchdowns on 857 yards rushing.

Carroll will be led by one of the best secondaries in the state behind senior CB Obi Eloh and junior safety Robert Barnes.

Prediction: The two teams will trade touchdowns early in the game before a defensive battle takes over in the second half. Avery Davis will account for five touchdowns and over 250 yards of offense but will throw an interception to Obi Eloh.
