The #3 Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos made the short trip to Turner Stadium to battle the Nederland Bulldogs. The Buffalos came into the game highly favored.

From the start, Fort Bend Marshall showed pure dominance. The Buffs who were visitors won the toss and elected to receive. The Buffs couldn’t get anything going as the Bulldogs forced them to punt on their first possession. The Buffs and Bulldogs exchanged punts.

On their second possession, Fort Bend Marshall QB #1 Roland Harvey found WR #15 Chris Marshall for a 75-yard passing touchdown. The extra point attempt was missed. The Buffs defense then came alive.

The score was 6-0 in favor of Fort Bend Marshall after one, but that was the closet Nederland would come during the entire game.

The Buffs defense forced the Bulldogs to make mistakes in which the Buffs took clear advantage. The Buffs intercepted a pass at the 50-yard line. Buffs RB #25 Aaron McGowen then scored on a 2-yard scamper. The Buffs offensive line provided much protection and opened up gaps easily allowing McGowen to score. The score was 13-0 Buffs in the 2nd Quarter.

The Bulldogs coaching staff was not pleased with the way the Bulldogs were playing and made it known. You could hear them teaching the young men and explaining what they expected to be done. The Bulldogs attempted to make corrections in which, they kept the Buffs out of the end zone for mostly the remainder of the second quarter.

With seven seconds left in the first half, Fort Bend Marshall QB #1 Roland Harvey found WR #3 Javion Matthews for an 8-yard strike. The extra point attempt was good and the Buffs went up 20 to 0 at the half.

Adjustments were set to be made by both teams at half. The third quarter began with exchanging punts from both teams. Fort Bend Marshall then found the end zone yet again. Buffs QB #1 Roland Harvey found WR #15 Chris Marshall again for a 40-yard passing touchdown. Up 26 to 0, the Buffs sent out their jumbo package. Buffs #14 Ja’koby Banks rushed and followed his blockers for a successful two-point conversion.

The score was now 28 to 0 and the Bulldogs desperately needed to respond. The Bulldogs offense was swallowed by numerous Buffs. Nothing was going right for them, and the Buffs defense knew it. Buffs DE #52 Raylin Callis made a huge play, scoring on a fumble return. Kicker #83 Rodrigo Escamilla continued to drill the extra points.

Up 35-0, Nederland went into full desperation mode. The Bulldogs attempted to keep to their game plan, but nothing could stop the Buffs. Buffs DT #9 Tristin Drones-Mouton recovered a fumble by Nederland. You could hear the crowd sigh and see the frustration in the faces of the Bulldogs fans, coaches, and players. Nothing was working and nothing could slow down the Buffs. There’s a reason why they’re number three in the state is what someone said on the sideline.

As time continued to tick, Buffs RB #21 Rundrick Dudley danced his way 18 yards and into the end zone. The PAT was good and the score was now 42-0 going into the final quarter.

The scoring didn’t stop as the Bulldogs attempted to pass their way out of their whole. Buffs CB #12 Adari Haulcy picked off the pass and returned it 36 yards for the score. That was Haulcy’s second interception of the game. The score was now 49-0 with no chance of a comeback by Nederland. As the clock struck zero, the final score was 49-0 in favor of Fort Bend Marshall.

With the win, the Buffs advanced and improved to 12-0 on the season. With the loss, Nederland fell to 9-3 and were eliminated from the playoffs.  The Buffalos will play the Crosby Cougars on Friday, January 1st at 1pm at Turner Stadium in Humble.
