Vista Ridge advanced to this round after steamrolling Lockhart 56-14, while Victoria West got here by stomping Veterans Memorial 70-8.
The Warriors are a run heavy team who is led offensively by QB Gamarquis Girdy, RB Zevaughn Shelton and WR Jonathan Jimenez. Girdy is a dual threat QB who has 909 passing yards, 13 passing touchdowns, 1609 rushing yards and 30 rushing touchdowns. Shelton has 1034 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns, while Jimenez has 543 receiving yards and 8 receiving touchdowns on the year. This offense is averaging just under 45 points a game on the year.
Zakry Ledbetter has 134 total tackles on the year and is the anchor of this defense that is allowing just over 16 points a game. The Warriors have 26 takeaways to go along with 16 QB sacks on the year. This defense has really clamped down lately and is only allowing 7.5 points per game in the last four games they’ve played.
The Rangers are led by QB Matt Snow and RB Isaiah Vilaire. Snow is also a dual threat QB, however, he has had a little more success than Girdy airing out the ball. On the year, Snow has 1502 passing yards, 12 passing touchdowns, 1816 rushing yards and 27 rushing touchdowns. Vilaire has 1522 rushing yards, 24 rushing touchdowns, 240 receiving yards and 1 receiving touchdown on the season.
Along with Vilaire, the Rangers have several players who contribute in the passing game. Jamil Pittman, Tyler Harris, Cody Williams and Ryan Landrum each have more than 200 yards receiving and have combined for 10 receiving touchdowns.
The Rangers defense is allowing an average of just under 25 points a game, while the offense is putting up an average of just under 45 points a game.
This game could be a shootout and the winner may come down to whoever has the ball last.
