The Manor Mustangs emerged victorious over the Fulshear Chargers in a tight defensive struggle on blustery Saturday afternoon from Traylor Stadium in Rosenberg.
The scoring of the game came with 0:54 remaining in the first half when Quinten Joyner cashed in a 13-yard TD run to give the Mustangs a 7-0 lead.
Fulshear cut into the lead with an 86-yard drive to open the 3rd quarter. Davion Godley capped the drive with a 4-yard TD run. Godley also has 43-yard run during the drive to set up the TD. The 2-point conversion attempt was no good. Manor led 7-6 with 8:10 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
Manor answered back with a 66-yard TD pass from Jayson Zardavets to Che Nwabuko to push their lead to 14-6 with 3:37 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
Zardavets hooked up with Nwabuko for a beautiful diving catch of a 28-yard pass for a touchdown to push the mustangs lead to 20-6 with 1:05 left in the 3rd quarter. The PAT was no good.
Fulshear cut into the on a 1-yard run from Parker Williams mid-way through the 4th quarter. Set Smith ran in the 2-point conversion and Manor led 20-14.
Fulshear drove down to the Manor 2-yard line but was unable to score and the game ended 20-14.
Manor is now 2-1 on the season. The Mustangs are off next week before traveling to Leander to take on the 2-1 Lions Friday, 9/24 at 7pm.
