The Lamar Texans led from start to finish Saturday night at Delmar Stadium in a 42-18 victory over Beaumont West Brook.
Jordan Reeves opened the scoring on a 67-yard run and Kenneth Kennedy scored on a 15-yard run to spot the Texans to 14-0 lead with 4:48 remaining in the 1st quarter.
The Bruins cut into the Texans’ lead when Bryce Anderson connected with Noah Critin for 78-yard TD and then connected with Javon Sorrell for a 22-yard TD. Both 2-point conversion attempts failed and the Texans led 14-12 with 8:14 remaining in the first half.
Kenneth Kennedy added three more touchdown runs (1 yard, 5 yards, and 34 yards) to spot the Texans to a 35-12 lead with 3:29 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
West Brook posted their final score of the game on a 3-yard pass from Javon Sorell to Jamichael Foxall.
Kenneth Rosenthal added a 12-yard TD run to produce the final score of Lamar 42, West Brook 18.
Lamar is now 1-2 on the season. The Texans travel to Conroe to face the 2-1 Tigers Friday, 9/17 at 7pm.
