Highland Park scored 28 points in the 4th quarter of the Regional Finals game against John Tyler to rally for the win and they continued their coring dominance against Denton Ryan.
The Scots got on the board first on a 31-yard pass from Chandler Morris to Bennett Brown with 8:35 remaining in the 1st quarter.
The Scots struck again on 4-yard run from Chandler Morris with 6:25 remaining in the 1st quarter to extended the lead to 14-0.
Neither team scored for more than a quarter until Denton Ryan struck with 3:42 remaining in the first half on a 3-yard run from Drew Sanders to cut the Scots’ lead to 14-7.
But Highland Park answered back when Morris again connected with Brown on a touchdown pass, this time from 7 yards out to put the lead back to 21-7 Highland Park with 0:45 remaining in the half.
The Scot’s pushed the lead to 29-7 on a 5-yard run from Chandler Morris (and a two-point conversion on a botched snap on the PAT attempt) with 9:14 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
Ryan scored to keep game in reach on a 4-yard run from Drew Sanders with 7:09 remaining in the 3rd quarter to cut the lead to 29-14.
Highland Park pushed the lead back to 22 (36-14) on a 2-yard run from Chandler Morris with 4:43 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
Highland scored again with 10:08 remaining in the game on a 15-yard pass from Morris to Brown to give the Scots a 43-14 lead.
Ryan would score with 4:52 remaining in the game on a 8-yard pass from Seth Henigan to Drew Sanders to produce the final score of Highland Park 43, Denton Ryan 21.
The statistical leaders for Denton Ryan were Ke’ori Hicks with 40 yards rushing on 4 carries, Seth Henigan with 155 yards passing completing 17 of 25 attempts, and Jamarion Robertson with 93 yards receiving on 7 catches.
The statistical leaders for Highland Park were Benner Page with 97 yards rushing on 19 carries, Chandler Morris with 265 yards passing completing 19 of 27 attempts, and Finn Corwin with 96 yards receiving on 6 catches.
