South Oak Cliff Shuts Out Liberty Hill in Second Half to Win 5AD2 Title

The South Oak Cliff Golden Bears defeated the Liberty Hill Panthers 23-14 Saturday afternoon at AT&T Stadium in front of a crowd of 42,275 to win the UIL 5AD2 Football Championship.

The tile was the first won by a Dallas ISD team on the field since Dallas Carter in 1988. That title was later forfeited.

The last tile still recognized was in 1958 when Dallas Washington won the 3A PVIL title (now recognized by the UIL).

The game was tied at 14 at half. After Liberty Hill missed a field goal attempt after a long drive to start the 3rd quarter, Diego Varela nailed a 29-yard field goal to give the Golden Bears the lead with 8:25 remaining in the game.

South Oak Cliff added a touchdown from Qualon Farrar with 3:12 left and put the game out of reach.

South Oak Cliff’s Kevin Henry-Jennings was named the game’s Offensive MVP completing 12 of 23 passes and 144 yards and 2 TDS.

South Oak Cliff’s Abdul Muhammad was named the game’s Defensive MVP with 13 tackles and one pass broken up.

Simply put I am a fan of Texas high school football. I attend as many high school football games as I can - 82 games in 2017, 86 games in 2018, 76 games in 2019. I also have some limited computer skills and I use those to provide information to the #txhsfb community. I am always looking for new ways to provide information to the #txhsfb community.
