Shawn Bell has come full circle in his coaching career.  After entering the profession at Round Rock Stony Point, the former Baylor quarterback has assumed the head coaching position at Round Rock Cedar Ridge.

“We are proud to welcome Coach Bell back to Round Rock ISD to lead our student athletes,” Cedar Ridge Principal Lynette Thomas said on the district’s website.  “Coach Bell has a proven record of success and will create an outstanding program, leading our students to both academic and athletic achievement.”

ShawnBellBell spent the last six seasons as head coach at Magnolia West.  Under his direction, the Mustangs went 44-27 and made the playoffs six straight years.

The one-time Baylor leader in touchdown passes also spent one season as head coach at Clifton, posting a 3-7 mark.  Bell also served as an assistant coach at China Spring under his father Mark Bell who has compiled a 149-73 record since 1997.

“I’m extremely excited,” Bell stated on the Round Rock ISD website.  “I can’t wait to impact another group of kids, establish new relationships and develop them in a lot of ways.”

Bell replaces Todd Ford, who resigned in January to accept the head position at Lucas Lovejoy.  Last season, the Raiders finished 10-2, reaching the second round of the Class 6A playoffs behind junior quarterback Garrett Sharp.

“Coach Bell is an outstanding addition to the athletic team at Round Rock ISD,” Athletic Director Dwayne Weirich commented on the district website.  “The experience he brings to Cedar Ridge will further enhance the successful program and give our students the guidance needed to continue excellence.”
