Tascosa Rebels vs. Longview Lobos

Longview 45, Tascosa 42

The Longview Lobos withstood a furious rally from the Tascosa Rebels to advance to the State Finals in Arlington.

The Lobos scored early on a 30-yard run from Keilyn Willaims just 2 minutes into the game to jumped out to a 7-0 lead.

The Lobos scored again just 3 minutes later on a 31-yard run from Jessie Anderson. The PAT was blocked and the Lobos lead 13-0.

Tascosa cut the lead to 13-7 at the 3:31 mark of the 1st quarter on an 18-yard pass from Joseph Plunk to Josue Torres.

Longview’s Kaden Meredith returned the ensuing kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown. Haynes King ran in the two-point conversion attempt and Longview lead 21-7 at the end of the 1st quarter.

Longview would add two Anderson 2-yard rushing touchdowns to expanded the lead to Longview 35-7 with 4:50 remaining in the first half.

Tascosa scored with 0:12 remaining in the half on a 1-yard pass from Evan Enos to cut the score to 35-14 at the half.

The only score in the 3rd quarter would be an 8-yard pass from Plunk to Ayden Noriega to cut the Longview lead to 35-21.

Longview would add a 34-yard field goal from J.K. Martin with 9:56 left in the game to expand the lead to 38-21.

Tascosa would cut the margin to 38-28 with 6:39 remaining in the game on a 4-yard run from King Doerue.

Longview would score their final points of the game on a 14-yard run from Williams with 5:10 remaining to take a 45-28 lead.

The Rebels would go away easily. After Plunk scored on a 13-yard run with 1:46 left in the game to cut the Longview lead to 45-35, the Rebels would recover the onside kick.

Doerue would score a 47-yard touchdown run on the next play to cut the Longview lead to 45-42 with 1:37 remaining in game.

The Rebels would once gain attempt an onside kick, but this time it wasn’t successful and the Lobos were able to run out the clock and clinch the victory.

The statistical leaders for Tascosa were Plunk with 182 yards rushing on 30 carries, Plunk with 91 yards passing with 5 completions on 9 attempts, and Torres with 18 yards receiving and 1 catch.

The statistical leaders for Longview were Williams with 128 yards rushing on 15 carries, King with 88 yards passing with 5 completions on 8 attempts, and Kamden Perry with 48 yards receiving on 3 catches.

 

 

 

West Brook Bruins vs. Westlake Chaparrals

West Brook 35, Westlake 30

In a mirror of the other 6AD2 semifinal, one team jumped out to a big lead and withstood a late rally to advance to the State Finals. This time it was West Brook with the big lead withstanding the Westlake rally.

West Brook got on the board first on a 70-yard fumble return from Daniel Coleman with 3:31 remaining in the 1st quarter. The Bruins successfully converted the two-point attempt and lead 8-0.

Westlake answered with a 29-yard touchdown pass from Kirk Michaux to Penny Baker with 0:12 remaining in the 1st quarter to cut the lead to 8-7.

West Brook would score 13 seconds into the 2nd quarter on a 68-yard run from Robert McGrue to push lead to 15-7.

West Brook would strike again on a 65-yard pass from La’Ravien to Thaddeus Johnson with 9:36 remaining in the 2nd quarter to expand the lead to 22-7.

Westlake would cut into the lead with 28-yard field goal from Gabe Lozano with 1:56 remaining in the half. With the field goal the Bruin lead was down to 22-10.

West Brook would push the lead back up to 25-10 on a 27-yard field goal from Kevin Linares with 0:31 left in the first half.

Linares would a 34-yard field goal with 8:22 left in the 3rd quarter to make the West Brook lead 28-10.

Westlake scored on a 2-yard run from Kirkland Michaux with 3:03 remaining in the 3rd quarter to make score West Brook 28-17.

West Brook answered on trick play with running back Robert McGrue throwing a 46-yard touchdown pass to Deonte Simpson with 2:11 remaining in the 3rd quarter to make the West Brook lead 35-17.

Westlake answered quickly on a 38-yard touchdown pass from Kirk Michaux to Mason Magnum with 1:27 remaining in the 3rd quarter to make the score West Brook 35-24.

Westlake would cut into the West Brook lead on a 4-yard run from Jake Ehlinger with 7:58 remaining in the game. The touchdown made the score West Brook 35, Westlake 30 and that would be final score of the day.
