Over the course of two days, eight people in Joliet were found shot and dead in three different locations. On Monday night, 1,200 miles away, the suspect in the slayings was also discovered dead from what appeared to be a suicide, according to authorities.

What Happened ?

Romeo Nance, 23, appears to have killed himself by gunshot in Texas after being the target of a manhunt by many law enforcement organizations.

At a press conference, Joliet police Chief Bill Evans stated that the Will County Sheriff’s office alerted his officers at 12:04 p.m. on Monday about multiple deaths discovered in two different homes in the 2200 block of West Acres Road, close to Madison Street.

Evans claimed that when responding officers entered two houses, they discovered seven deceased bodies.

Deputies from the Will County Sheriff’s Office found the bodies while looking into a previous incident that had left a man dead in an unincorporated region just outside of Joliet proper the day before. The red Toyota Camry that Nance was connected to was the common thread.

Wounds Are Not Severe

When the Will County Sheriff’s office arrived at the Pheasant Run Apartments, located off Pheasant Run Road in unincorporated Joliet Township, at 4:27 p.m. on Sunday, they discovered a male who was bleeding from a gunshot wound on the ground. The man, 28, who had arrived in the US three years prior and was originally from Nigeria, was taken to a nearby hospital.

A 42-year-old guy had been shot in the leg in the 200 block of Davis Street in Joliet approximately ten minutes prior. The victim’s wounds were not life-threatening.

The two victims in these prior incidents didn’t seem to be related, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office. On the other hand, the sheriff’s office claims that Nance was seen driving the same vehicle with the same license plate at both incidents.

Before it was revealed that Nance had committed himself, a number of distraught people arrived at the Acres Road site on Monday night.
