A Collision That killed Good Samaritan Donald Collins Has Been The Subject Of An Arrest

A suspect in a hit-and-run collision that resulted in the death of a good Samaritan last weekend has been detained by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.

What Happened?

Juan Francisco Garcia, 25, reportedly turned himself in on Monday night, according to DCSO. He allegedly operated a tow truck that struck a vehicle on I-30 in Dallas just before 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 12. According to deputies, Garcia left the area in a car.

Donald Collins pulled over to assist the van passengers, but an SUV later struck and killed him. Deputies believe Collins saved the lives of a woman and boy who were critically hurt while inside the van. Two counts are related to the initial collision that Garcia is facing. On the same day that Collins was laid to rest, he handed himself in.

Irma Nelly Martinez-Leal, 33, the SUV’s driver, was additionally detained on the spot. She is accused of two charges of intoxicated vehicular assault and one allegation of intoxication manslaughter.
