A person was stabbed and killed on the Portland MAX, and the suspect has been taken into custody.

According to a KPTV crime news report, a Portland stabbing murdered 23-year-old Juan Francisco Orellana-Gavarrete. After a 6:30 p.m. firearm incident, first responders went to TriMet. Despite receiving rapid medical attention, Orellana-Gavarrete died at a neighboring hospital.

Despite quick medical aid, Juan Francisco Orellana-Gavarrete couldn’t survive and passed away at a nearby hospital. The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Edel Cruz-Aragon, was involved in a fight with Orellana-Gavarrete near the Providence Park MAX station, leading to the tragic outcome. Cruz-Aragon was later arrested on charges of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon. This sad incident reminds us of the importance of community safety and the ongoing need for efforts to prevent such unfortunate events.
