After Attempting To Serve An Eviction Notice, A Missouri Police officer Was Shot And Killed

Independence, Missouri, authorities reported on Thursday that a civil process server and a Missouri police officer had been shot and killed.

What Happened?

A civil process server for the Jackson County Circuit Court was shot, according to a report that the Independence Police Department received at 1:09 p.m. local time, according to a statement from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. According to the highway patrol, a neighbor called at the same moment to report that an officer had been shot.

Three police officers were shot as additional shooting broke out after other police officers arrived on the site. The officers were brought to a nearby hospital along with the civil process server. The culprit was apprehended and brought to a medical facility for treatment.

According to police, Drexel Mack, the process server, and one of the cops, Cody Allen, both passed away from their wounds. Chief of the Independence Police Department Adam Dustman stated that one of the other shot cops underwent surgery and is anticipated to fully recover, while the third was treated for minor wounds.

According to Dustman, Allen, who was 35 years old, had a wife and two children. Mack was shot while trying to deliver an eviction notice, according to the police. Judge Jalilah Otto, the presiding judge of the Jackson County Circuit Court, announced on Thursday that the man was in his early 40s and had worked there for over 12 years.

According to Otto, he had adult children and was engaged to be married at the time of his death. According to a representative for the Fort Osage R-1 School District, the heavy police presence in the region caused the area’s schools to go into lockdown for around twenty minutes.
