Alabama Woman Faked Her Disappearance
A report published last July 16 had covered the case for Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell. She initially made a 911 call after seeing a toddler in Interstate 459 in Birmingham, Alabama and was never heard from again. Her disappearance had made national headlines which prompted the police to conduct a State-wide manhunt. The manhunt lasted for 49 hours.
Two days after her disappearance, the Alabama woman went home and gave a relatively short description of her disappearance. She later claimed that she was abducted and had filed a police report.

However, during the police investigation, the police were seeing a different light. A CCTV footage that was given to the police showed the 26-year-old sneaking toilet paper and robe from her workplace during the time where she had claimed to have been abducted.
According to Daily Mail, another evidence showed that she had bought several snacks before calling 911. Her search history showed she was looking for bus tickets before she disappeared.
On Monday, the Alabama woman admitted that she had faked her disappearance. “You think about the police officers who were supposed to be off that weekend. People canceled their vacations to look for someone who was just safe the whole time”, he said in an interview.
