Huawei Challenges Apple’s Dominance in China

Apple’s latest iPhone 15 release encountered a lukewarm reception in China performing 4.5% worse than its predecessor, the iPhone 14, within the initial 17 days as reported by Counterpoint Research. Analysts attribute this decline to Huawei’s aggressive market strategy marked by the introduction of the Mate 60 Pro in August.

Huawei’s innovative chip technology raising questions about US-China chip dynamics, has allowed the domestic giant to increase its market share to 14% while Apple’s share dipped to 15%. Facing a 30% year-on-year drop in iPhone sales in December, Apple is grappling with the unexpected fallout of Huawei’s market resurgence.

The $70 discount is seen as an attempt to revitalize iPhone commerce in China and counter Huawei’s growing influence. The battle for market dominance intensifies as both tech giants vie for consumer attention in one of the world’s most critical markets.
