Armenia’s joint military exercises with the U.S. caused concern among the Russian authorities saying that it was no good for anyone, even to Armenia itself.

Armenia’s Joint Military Exercises With The U.S.

The military exercises known as Eagle Partner, which are meant to improve operational cooperation, got underway in Armenia which will mark Armenia’s joint military exercises with the U.S. starting September 11. The drills will continue at the Armenian practice fields till September 20. Around 175 Armenian and 85 American service members will participate in the drill as reported in Militar NYI.

In response, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said in an interview that Armenia’s joint military exercises with the U.S. requires deep analysis since they could have partnered with the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Armenia’s Joint Military Exercises With The U.S. Leaves Russia Disappointed

In line with the announcement of Armenia’s joint military exercises with the U.S., Russia summoned the Armenian ambassador on Friday to express its concern over what it considered to be “unfriendly steps” amidst tension in Nagorno-Karabakh as reported in Reuters.

Within hours, a statement from Armenia’s foreign ministry expressed desire to settle differences with Azerbaijan over the region, which has been the focus of two conflicts in the last 30 years and had not addressed Russia’s complain.
