Acting on a tip received six days into the investigation, detectives were alerted on December 28 about a suspicious vehicle returning to the scrap yard along Airline Highway. Upon arrival, detectives intercepted the vehicle, matching the one captured on surveillance video, and apprehended Dupre, the driver, in the process.

Wright, the passenger, attempted to evade authorities but was later apprehended by Baton Rouge Police officers on charges including domestic abuse.
