The Newest Paxton Update
Documents recently released by the House impeachment managers this week reveal that suspended Attorney General Ken Paxton concealed his relationship with a campaign donor named Nate Paul, who was the subject of a federal investigation, and his alleged mistress using a burner phone, secret email, and fake Uber account.
The impeachment managers claim in those documents that “Paxton frequently ditched his security detail so he could meet with Paul and others” and that “Uber records reflect drivers picked up Paxton under the alias of ‘Dave P’ a block from his home and ferried him to his lover’s or Paul’s properties more than a dozen times” around 2020.
Paxton was impeached by the Texas House in late May. The 20 articles of impeachment were claims that he misused his positional authority for Paul’s and his own personal gain.
To Determine Any Impeachment Against Paxton

The impeachment managers claim that Paul paid for upgrades to Paxton’s house and that he employed the alleged mistress of Paxton so she could live in Austin and be nearer to Paxton than in San Antonio. According to documents, Paxton used his position to obstruct a federal probe into Paul and assist Paul in avoiding having some of his properties foreclosed.
The documents were submitted by the House impeachment managers in response to Paxton’s arguments that the articles of impeachment need to be withdrawn and that voters were aware of all the accusations prior to their reelection of him in the previous year. They claimed: “Paxton was able to hide the truth from the public through his denials, half-truths, and outright lies.”
Paxton has always refuted any misconduct. The trial is scheduled to begin on September 5. On the opening day of the trial, the Texas Senate will have to determine whether to strike any of the articles of impeachment against Paxton.
