Father of Missing Girl Harmony Montgomery Faces Charges
Following presentations from both sides, Hillsborough Superior Court Judge Amy Messer delivered Montgomery’s sentence, ranging from 30 to 60 years for the armed career criminal charges.
An additional 7 1/2 to 15 years were imposed for charges of receiving stolen property and theft, with the possibility of suspended time for good behavior.
Judge Messer justified the sentence by highlighting Montgomery’s history of violence and the role that firearms played in his crimes. She also emphasized the audacious nature of his conduct.
Testimonies during the trial included that of Kayla Montgomery, Adam Montgomery’s estranged wife, who stated that he had admitted to taking the guns. Kayla is currently serving an 18-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to misleading a grand jury about her whereabouts on the day she last saw missing girl Harmony Montgomery.
His trial for this case is scheduled for November, and he entered a not guilty plea to second-degree murder, falsifying physical evidence, and abuse of corpse charges in October of the previous year.
