Federal Policies For Repaying Student Loans

In a report from Prince William Times the Saving on a Valuable Education or SAVE Plan will be the new repayment strategy for borrowers of federal student loans as revealed by the Department of Education and the Biden Administration.

With the new income-driven repayment plan, debt will be forgiven after a predetermined number of years and payments are calculated according to a borrower’s income and family size as its new federal policies for repaying student loans.

Federal Policies For Repaying Student Loans Known As ‘On-Ramp’, Set To Begin This September

The federal policies for repaying student loans includes borrowers earning less than 225 percent of the federal poverty line will exempt them from making monthly payments as reported in Mashable. Also, payments on undergraduate loans will be reduced from 10% of the borrower’s discretionary income to 5%.

The SAVE plan will be open to all current student loan debtors. Existing Revised Pay as You Earn (REPAYE) plan participants will be enrolled automatically in the new SAVE plan. Read the SAVE plan fact sheet or go to the income-driven repayment plan website to find out more.
