Following overnight flooding in Kaufman County, two persons have passed away. Two separate drivers werehed off flooding FM 1390 close to the small Texas town of Warsaw, which resulted in the deaths.

What Happened?

According to County Emergency Manager Steve Howie, one of the cars was submerged in ten feet of water due to the flowing water across the road.

He stated that before crews entered and removed the dead, first responders waited for the water to subside. He continued by saying that although the killings happened during the night, there was currently no information available on the victims.

While saving one woman, three Forney Police officers briefly submerged themselves while rescuing other others from their automobiles.

Evacuation On Board

A total of 26 individuals have been evacuated from the town of College Mound, the city of Kaufman, and a rural area close to Warsaw in the interim. According to Howie, there is at least seven inches of water in one Love Street house.

Three boat teams from Texas Task Force One have been out assisting with evacuations, and state resources have also been sent into the area. Since further intense rain is predicted to sweep across the area, those teams will remain in the county through the night.

Here in Kaufman County, there has been an evacuation due to severe water and rain. From the Kaufman Fire Department, the county has now relocated its activities to the neighboring Landmark Church.

To help the victims, the American Red Cross has traveled to Kaufman. Texas Baptist Men are currently attempting to find out if they will be sent to the region.
