According to San Antonio police, a third arrest has been made in connection with the shooting deaths of a Texas teen and her boyfriend.

What Happened?

Myrta Romanos, 47, was charged on Wednesday with three felonies, which include abusing a corpse, changing, destroying, or hiding a human corpse, and interfering with evidence.

Her detention follows the filing of charges one week prior against Christopher Preciado, 19, for capital murder and Ramon Preciado, 53, for abuse of a corpse by the police. The accusation against Ramon Preciado relates to his alleged assistance in moving the bodies of Christopher Preciado following their murder.

San Antonio Police Department Lt. Michelle Ramos claimed during a press conference Wednesday that Romanos is “maybe a stepmother” to Christopher Preciado, and all three suspects lived together.

The bodies of Savanah Nicole Soto, 18, and her boyfriend Matthew Guerra, 22, were discovered in Guerra’s car a few days after they were reported missing in late December. A day before Soto, who was nine months pregnant, was supposed to be induced, the couple vanished. Guerra and Soto were both found to have been shot.

Three Arrests Were Made

According to police, all three arrests were made in large part because of surveillance footage. On the night of the murder, Romanos was observed driving home in a pickup with Christopher and Ramon Preciado, according to the police.

Romanos owned the gun that was used in the murders, according to the police. According to Ramos, investigators knew early on in the probe that a third party was involved, but there was insufficient proof to establish Romanos’ identity at the time.

Police published a video of what they claimed to be two persons of interest shortly after the murders. A dark Chevy Silverado with a bed cover was being driven by one individual, while Guerra’s Kia Optima was being driven by another. Chief of the San Antonio Police Department Bill McManus stated that the video was taken “very close to” the location of the remains and a few days prior to their discovery.

“A lot of information on social media that there was a third individual involved, and our homicide detectives were aware of that, however, we were looking for enough probable cause to make that arrest,” Ramos said on Wednesday. According to Ramos, San Antonio police are certain that no one else is a suspect in the deaths.
