Beneficiaries who are experiencing delays in their February benefits must be aware of the precise timetable that the Social Security Administration follows when disbursing benefits. The recipient’s birthdate and the time they initially began receiving payments are used to calculate the payment dates.

Social Security Benefits

Social Security benefits for those who have been receiving benefits since before May 1997 are payable on February 2.
Social Security benefits for individuals whose birthdays fall between the first and tenth of any given month are paid on February 14. Social Security benefits are paid on February 21 to individuals whose birthdays fall between the 11th and the 20th of a given month. Social Security benefits for those whose birthdays fall between the 21st and the 31st of any given month are paid on February 28.

Payments are normally made out on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesdays of each month; the dates of payment are also based on the day of the week. Payments will be sent on the corresponding Wednesday to individuals whose birthdays fall within certain date ranges. The 2nd Wednesday of the month will see the money sent if the birthday comes between the first and the tenth of the month. The 3rd Wednesday of the month will see the money made if the birthday comes between the 11th and the 20th of the month. The 4th Wednesday of the month will see the money sent if the birthday comes between the 21st and the 31st of the month.

SSI Benefits Schedule

The timetable is varied for beneficiaries who receive payments from both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The first day of each month is when they will receive their SSI payment, and the third day is when they will acquire their Social Security payment. Note that if the first or day three of a given month falls on a weekend or holiday, the payment dates may be adjusted. If February 3rd falls on the weekend, Social Security beneficiaries will be paid on February 2nd, one day early. The Social Security Administration recommends waiting three more postal days before contacting a recipient if their check does not come on the anticipated date. Following that, beneficiaries can check their Social Security benefits online or chat with a representative at 800-772-1213.
