Anna Fitz-James, a local Doctor from Springfield filed Lawsuit against Missouri State officials for Stalling the petition on abortion for next year’s statewide ballot.

Missouri Supreme Court, To Hear Lawsuit Against Sate Auditor and Attorney General
In a report, State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick and Attorney General Andrew Bailey are vocal about their opposition against abortion. With that, they had not permitted the Abortion petition to move forward.
The Abortion petition was initially submitted to codify Abortion Rights in the Missouri constitution. The petition includes access to abortion, birth control and management in miscarriage.

Abortion Petition: Controversial, State Official Says
The petition was filed in June which was needed to be approved within 24 hours. However, the State Officials rejected the proposed initiative petition. With the disapproval, the petition will be needing to transferred to Missouri Supreme Court.
“It’s controversial, and it elicits strong emotional responses from people”, State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick said in an interview.
From a report, the Lawsuit states that the Attorney General doesn’t have the right power to appeal the petition case. By stalling the petition, they are denying the rights of the petitioner.
