SOURCESouth is first on the list of the worst neighborhoods in Raleigh, North Carolina. With its population of 17,197, it is no surprise that crime rates in this area are high. The property crime rate in South is 2,779 per 100k residents, while its crime rate is 703 per 100k residents. Aside from high crime rates, one reason why South is one of the worst neighborhoods in Raleigh is because it has the 2nd worst median home value at $131,456 and the 3rd worst median income at $42,477.

Southwest is second on this list of the worst neighborhoods in Raleigh. The property crime rate in Southwest is higher than in the South, with 3,184 per 100k residents, but lower in terms of violent crime rate, at 666 per 100k residents. The median home value of Southwest is the 3rd worst at $132,067, while its median income is the 2nd worst at $38,691.

Southeast is third on the list of the worst neighborhoods in Raleigh. With a whopping population of 28,074, it has the worst median home value at $124,092. Its median income is also no good, being the 4th worst at $43,932. Property crime rates are also high in the Southeast, with 2,243 per 100k residents and 484 violent crime rates per 100k residents.

Worst Neighborhoods In Raleigh 2023

Northeast is fourth on the list of worst neighborhoods in Raleigh. With its 87,424 population, having a property rate of 2,575 is not that surprising. Its violent crime rate, on the other hand, is lower than most neighborhoods in Raleigh, with 449 violent crimes per 100k residents.

South Central is the last addition on this list of the worst neighborhoods in Raleigh, North Carolina. According to Upgraded Home, South Central faces a significant policing problem, as the gang warfare kind of throws the police force off balance. That is why the crime rate in South Central is higher than the other neighborhoods on this list, with 1,101 crimes per 100k residents. Its property crime is also higher than most of the neighborhoods in Raleigh, at 4,283 per 100k residents.
