SOURCE– There will be about 6.5 million Americans diagnosed with neurocognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s in 2022, and that number is expected to double by the year 2060.

According to a study conducted by the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, women in their midlife who follow a diet that is designed to lower their blood pressure, for example, the DASH diet or Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, are less likely to have neurocognitive disorders as time passes.

The questions asked of the participants in the research study centered on mild cognitive impairment, which can lead to more serious neurocognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s. In the research study, one-third of the participants reported having more than one cognitive issue.
