‘Offset Legislature’s Tax Relief’

The policy director for the Government for the People campaign of the Texas Public Policy Foundation said that there is a significant portion of Legislature’s Tax relief which is currently being lost.

He added that this can be attributed to the process of determining tax rates since everyone is accepting budgets that are far larger than necessary as reported in KTRH.

In order to raise tax rates higher than normally permitted, at least 17 school districts in Texas are organizing elections for voter approval of tax rates. These factors are now resulted to several homeowners calling to offset Legislature’s Tax Relief.

Texas Tribune had reported that the maintenance and operation taxes used by districts to pay for teacher salaries and other operational expenses make up the greatest percentage of school taxes which account for the majority of property tax bills.
