‘Preppy Killer’ Manslaughter Case In 1986
Robert Chambers was infamous for being ‘Preppy Killer’ way back in 1986.
A dead body of a teenage girl was found by cyclist in an area around Central Park. The girl was allegedly strangled and raped by the then 20-year old Robert Chambers.
He had later admitted to the crime and told police that the girl, identified as Jennifer Levin had died after a rough love making in the park. During his trial, prosecutors presented that the ‘Preppy Killer’ had raped and strangled Levin which had caused her untimely death.
However, the jurors were not able to reach a verdict resulting to a lesser charge for the ‘Preppy Killer’. He was sentenced for 15 years behind bars and was released in 2003 as reported by NBC.
