On Saturday night in downtown St. Paul, a 27-year-old man was shot and wounded on the Green Line. The robbery turns violent at 7:30 p.m. around 12th and Robert streets. Sergeant Mike Ernster, a St. Paul police spokesperson, confirmed this.

The shooter fled the train, prompting a Metro Transit and St. Paul hunt with K-9 units and the Minnesota State Patrol helicopter. Ernster said the suspect was still at large Saturday evening despite their attempts.

The person was taken to Regions Hospital by St. Paul Fire Department medics for stomach injuries. Luckily, officials said his injuries were not life-threatening. However, the situation is under investigation.

Due to the incident and investigation, Union Depot-Robert Street Green Line trains were replaced by buses. Normal train service resumed about 9 p.m. after the search.
